LoveSouthside is a multimedia campaign focusing on positive attributes of life in Southside Virginia.
The term Southside commonly refers to the area of Virginia east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, west of the fall line, and south of the Appomattox River. The LoveSouthside campaign focuses on Danville and Pittsylvania County, which we believe to be the heart of Southside Virginia.
Mission: LoveSouthside will foster community pride by raising awareness of positive attributes of the Southside Region.
Vision: Southside will be an informed community, displaying positive attitudes that define the region as a wonderful place to live, work and play.
LoveSouthside began in 2012 as a class project of Leadership Southside XVIII.
Leadership Southside is a program offered by Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce. Leadership Southside XVIII began in fall 2011 with 16 professionals from various backgrounds. During the first phase of the program, the class members attended monthly workshops on skill building, leadership development, and an introduction to Southside Virginia. During the second phase, the class was challenged to complete a group project. The class developed the initial concept for LoveSouthside based on a perceived need to improve attitudes about life in our region. The rest, as they say, is history!
